Winter comes overnight.


The storm of the decade swept into us last night.
Cold temps + wet air = low snow. It is always exciting to wake to the silence of a snow covered landscape. You don’t hear the snow blanketing the world overnight. You sleep, you wake, you hope you still have power.


Then you look. And in the weak light of morning, you realize everything is white.


Kids were home, roads were dangerous. The driveway kept us busy in the afternoon, shoveling the “wonderful white” off the asphalt. Tyler now knows how bittersweet a foot of snow can be.


So we burn a few sticks of oak, and a few more, and a few more after that. In fact we keep the stove hot all day and into the now very chilly night. This weather system blows through today, clearing for tonight, and storming later in the week.


Skiing should be great, once this base coat is laid down. More storms on the way, higher snow elevations, but should stock up the slopes for some good turns. Get there early for best results.
