Martial arts and traditional arts are linked in many ways. Many of the masters of the martial arts were also highly practiced calligraphers, painters and yes, even flower arrangers.
These articles will be my opportunity to post thoughts and observations regarding my training and my artistic interpretations. I can only hope that it leads to something productive, provocative and considerate.

I created this section because I wanted to be able to share, converse or ramble on about my experiences as a student of the martial arts. Over the last five years, I have been training in karate, with a wonderful community of like minded individuals.
The lessons, insights and experiences on the dojo floor and beyond have given me reason to stop and think. Taking my dojo with me is a great way to connect the training with the real world. And in order to understand that metaphor, you have to understand that karate is not just kicking or punching. Karate begins and end with rei. It begins an ends with courtesy, honor, integrity, compassion and self discipline.
