Lake Spaulding in Nevada County California was drained in 2020 dam maintenance. Here is a flyover video from the inlet on Fordyce Creek.

With the drought looming so large in California, the apocalyptic view from this video is a bit staggering. I don’t believe that the lake is in danger of being this low on account of drought conditions, but it does paint an eery picture. It was hard to pass up the video op.

I have kayaked back to this spot in the last year and all of this terrain is deep underwater. Good for now.
